Extended token fell short of $500 million full-dilution value
Metamask, Puffpaw, StandX and Opensea also missed their launch-day valuation targets.
A cluster of high-profile crypto token launches failed to achieve the full-dilution values they had projected for the first day after release. Only the Extended token avoided breaching its highest listed threshold, though it still did not meet the $500 million mark.
Metamask aimed for a full-dilution value exceeding $1 billion. On the day after launch, its valuation remained below that level. The shortfall indicated weaker immediate demand than anticipated.
Puffpaw targeted a full-dilution value above $400 million, while StandX set a goal of more than $800 million. Both tokens recorded valuations under their respective thresholds on launch day. Their performance mirrored the broader trend of modest initial trading.
Opensea's launch sought a full-dilution value beyond $100 million, yet it did not reach that figure on its first trading day. Its valuation stayed below the higher benchmark despite being the most successful among the group.
Investors appeared cautious, tempering price spikes that had been expected. The results may prompt developers to recalibrate future launch strategies.
Analysis
This pattern may reflect broader risk aversion among participants after recent price corrections across the sector.
Developers who relied on high initial valuations to fund ecosystem growth now face a shortfall in expected capital. Without the anticipated influx, project timelines and feature roll-outs could be delayed, forcing teams to seek alternative financing or scale back ambitions.
Investors who purchased at launch prices may experience immediate unrealised losses, prompting a reassessment of entry-point strategies for similar offerings.
Going forward, issuers may adopt more conservative valuation targets or implement staggered release mechanisms to manage expectations.
