Opensea, Puffpaw, Extended and Metamask missed day one valuation targets
Day one valuations fell short as Opensea, Puffpaw, Extended and Metamask missed their expected fully-diluted caps.
On Friday, the day after launch, the new crypto tokens failed to achieve the valuation levels set for the first 24 hours. The fully-diluted valuation (FDV) of each token remained below those thresholds. This shortfall applied across the four projects examined.
Opensea's FDV did not exceed $500 million within the first day. The $500 million benchmark was therefore not reached.
Puffpaw's FDV stayed below $200 million on day one. Trading activity kept the valuation under the projected figure. Consequently the $200 million target was missed.
Extended's FDV failed to rise above $800 million after 24 hours. The $800 million threshold was not met.
Metamask's FDV remained under $4 billion on the first day. The token's valuation did not approach the $4 billion mark. The anticipated $4 billion fully-diluted valuation was not achieved.
Analysis
Investors appear to be demanding higher proof of demand before assigning large valuations. As a result, projects may find it harder to raise capital at the levels they initially projected.
For the teams behind Opensea, Puffpaw, Extended and Metamask, the lower valuations could constrain early development budgets that rely on token sales. Funding shortfalls may delay product launches or force adjustments to roadmaps. The situation also puts pressure on future token releases to demonstrate stronger traction.
Future performance remains uncertain; a token that underperforms on day one can still recover if usage grows. Continued tracking of trading volumes and community engagement will determine whether these projects can overcome the early valuation gap.
