Extended token topped $150 million FDV on launch day
Opensea, Puffpaw and Metamask fell short of their $1 billion, $400 million and $700 million FDV goals respectively.
On Friday, newly issued crypto tokens opened trading with ambitious fully-diluted valuation targets. Opensea, Puffpaw, Metamask and Extended were among the launches. By the end of the first day, only Extended reached its goal, while the others fell short. The outcomes were confirmed on the launch day.
Opensea aimed for a fully-diluted valuation above one billion dollars. The token therefore did not meet the $1 billion benchmark.
Puffpaw set a target of more than $400 million. Trading figures indicated its valuation stayed under that level on the first day. The goal was not achieved.
Metamask projected a valuation exceeding $700 million. Consequently, the $700 million mark was missed.
Extended pursued a fully-diluted valuation above $150 million. The launch therefore satisfied its stated objective.
Analysis
The contrast with Extended's success highlights that lower valuation goals can be more attainable in a cautious environment.
Investors may reassess the pricing of inaugural token offerings, potentially leading issuers to set more modest targets. Projects that align expectations with observable demand could attract sustained participation, while overly ambitious valuations risk early disappointment.
The mixed outcomes create uncertainty about the sustainability of the current token launch boom.
