On Sunday 1 August Morocco held its Legislative elections, while earlier on Wednesday 31 march South Africa secured the top spot in AFCON 2027 Qualifying Group D. The outcomes placed the PAM party at the head of Morocco's parliament and gave South Africa the group's qualification.

The PAM party emerged as the winner of the Moroccan Legislative contest, surpassing all other competitors. RNI finished in second place, ahead of parties such as PJD and PI. The result was confirmed on the election day of 1 August.

RNI's runner-up position marked its strongest showing among the listed rivals. The party's performance placed it directly behind PAM in the parliamentary tally. No other party, including PJD or USFP, achieved a higher rank.

In the AFCON 2027 Qualifying phase, South Africa topped group D, defeating Guinea, Kenya and Eritrea. This win secured South Africa's place in the upcoming tournament.

Analysis

The composition of the new parliament could affect Morocco's foreign policy, economic reforms, and its role within the broader Maghreb region.

South Africa's success in Qualifying for the African Nations Championship reinforces its status as a football powerhouse in Sub-Saharan Africa. The achievement may boost national morale, attract sponsorship, and enhance the country's soft power influence within regional sporting bodies.

Taken together, the events illustrate a rebalancing of influence between North Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa. While Morocco experiences a domestic political realignment, South Africa strengthens its cultural and sporting profile, suggesting that both regions are asserting new forms of leadership within their respective spheres.
